Price sensitive consumers worldwide would be pleased to know that you can now get smartphones for $200 or less. Heck if you search hard enough, you can even find android smartphones that costs less than $100! It might also be worth mentioning that new Android Kit Kat is designed to be compatible with older and less powerful devices where it is said that it can be installed on Android devices with just 512MB of RAM. This might give older and cheaper Android devices a new lease of life. Here is a list of some of our favorite budget android phones.
HTC EVO 4G
The HTC EVO is perfect for anyone that is looking for a feature filled, no-frills smartphone. This model runs on Android 2.1 and comes with a 4.3-inch screen. The screen has a 480 x 800 resolution that roughly translates to 217 pixels-per-inch. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz Scorpion processor, 512MB of RAM and 8GB for storage (expandable to 32GB). These specs may not be cutting edge but they would prove to be more than enough for the less discerning customer for surfing the web, watching videos, playing light games and listening to music. On the back, you will fin a 8MP camera with geo-tagging features and on the front, a 1.3MP camera for making video calls. The device weighs just 6-ounces and measures in at 4.80 x 2.60 x 0.51 inches in dimensions. At the time of writing, you can buy one of these devices for less than $140.
LG Optimus L3 II
This is a compact Android phone, measuring just 4.05 x 2.41 x 0.47 inches and weighing just 3.88 ounces. It packs a 3.2-inch screen that has a 240 x 320 resolution. Under the hood, you will find a 1GB Qualcomm MSM7225A Snapdragon processor, 512 MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage. It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which is a newer Android OS version. It doesn’t pack in as much as the HTC EVO but the LG Optimus L3 II is a pretty decent phone on its own. The fact that it runs on a new version of Android is worth your consideration. At the time this article was written, you can get one of these for less than $120.
Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300
If you are looking for a smaller Android phone, you can consider the Galaxy Pocket S5300. This model comes with a mini 2.8-inch screen that has a 240 x 320 resolution. The phone runs on Android 2.3 and is powered by a 832 MHz processor and 3GB of built it storage. If you need more storage space you can make use of the SD card slot that can add an addition 32GB to the phone. Be warned that this screen size is not optimal for web browsing and watching movies. You can be the proud owner for one of these for under $130. To be frank, this phone would only make a good buy if you are looking for an Android phone that is small and compact. If not, you should fork out a little extra and go for the HTC EVO 4G as we think it gives better value for your money.
